Well first things first!! I've been without the Internet for over 24 hours & I'm not to happy about that! Especially when we paid the bill!!! Qwest (lovely little buttholes they are) never took off the modem from the last house off our bill....let me explain a bit more about that...Over at our other house we had to have VDSL (which was not very good I might add). When we moved to our new home we only needed a modem for DSL so we needed to return the other modem or we'd be charged $250 (I think)!!! Well we requested what was needed to send it back (which was just the UPS sticker you put on the package)!! Well that took a VERY long while to get here!! In the mean time they put that thing on our bill which shut off our service!! That was about 2 months or so ago. They made us pay a reconnect fee even though it was not our fault because we were still waiting for the UPS slip to be mailed to us so we could get this thing taken care of!! Well it took weeks to get her but it finally did!! We shipped it off right away!! We checked the tracking number a few weeks ago, saw it made it there & wiped our hand of the whole thing!!
Well the night before last (after we got home from Taylor's tutoring) I went to check my usual stuff online (myspace & email) & there was NO INTERNET!!!!!!!!! UGH! This didn't get irritating until we did everything we could do!! We thought it was just an outage (cause that's happened before) so we unplugged the modem & plugged it back in...nothing!! So Jeremy called Qwest to see what the problem was. He didn't even get to a person to figure out what had happened!! I heard a little bit of it talking about the bill!! I said to him "Didn't you pay the bill?!???" He said "Yes I did!!" Which I pretty much knew cause he got all bent outta shape when I was yelling at Zada the night he was paying it because it's all voice so he had to start all over again!!
We had to wait till morning to call them due to the fact that they were closed...grrr!! Jeremy called them yesterday while he was at work to get this fixed. When I called him to tell him I fixed the banking stuff (separate issue) he said when I got home the Internet should be back up!! IT WAS NOT!!! So I called him back to tell him that & he said he'd see what the problem was!! He called me some time later with Qwest on the phone (Jeremy conferences me in on the call) to have me disconnect & reconnect the modem....STILL NOT WORKING!!! The guy on the phone said there was an order already placed to restore service & that would take anywhere from 2 to 24 hours! Jeremy also asked if we'd be charged a reconnect fee because we were last time & of course the guy said we would not (but we'll just wait & see)!!!
We finally got the Internet back some time last night. I was already in bed & had fell asleep when Jeremy came in to ask me if I wanted to check anything on my computer because the Internet was back up!!
NOW TO MY NEXT RANT!!!
WHY MUST EVERYONE BE IN SUCH A HURRY that they put people's lives in danger?!?!?? I swear, driving around this small town scares me more than driving on the freeway!! People around here are in such a hurry that they don't care about the other cars around them (or the one's coming at them)!!
This comes from this morning when I was driving Taylor to school. It's happened once before, and if I didn't know any better....I'd say it was the SAME person who did this to me last time! OK, now I was driving down the road & went to make my left turn to where the school is (like always), when this white pick-up truck pulls out in front of me trying to make a left on the street I'm trying to get off of!! I see that he's inching toward making the turn so I'm cautiously slowing to make my turn!! Well he in deed pulled out to make that turn & I blared the horn!! WHAT A JERK!!! It just drives me crazy that people could be so stupid that they would put innocent people's lives in danger like that!!
The day before yesterday I was on my way to the bank!! I was at this red light (for those of you who know it...Combs & Rittenhouse) that is on a two way road. At the light they have this double yellow bubble like thing, so when I saw this car (a green Audi) pass by me I thought he's (even though it was illegal as all get out because he crossed the double yellow line into the "on coming traffic lane) going to make a left turn up there! By the time he reached the "front" he cut off the first car waiting at the light!!! I was like HE JUST CUT IN FRONT OF ALL OF US!!!! That really irritated me!! He sped the whole way down the road & I saw him again waiting at the "RED LIGHT"!!! So basically he put his life & the life of others in danger (cause he didn't know if there were on coming cars coming his way when he pulled that stunt cutting in front of us) just to get to a red light!!!
People don't realize that speeding really gets them nowhere fast!! They speed to get to a red light?!??? Or cut people off to get to a stop sign?!??? You have to be going pretty fast to have speeding get you anywhere in a hurry!! I'll tell you what, when I left Mesa to go back to Sierra Vista (for those of you who don't know that's a 3hr drive) I first went down the 202 at about 70 to 75 mph (which the limit is only 65mph)...when I got to I-10 I found these corvette's doing about 85 to 90mph (which the limit is only 75mph)!! We had to slow down a lot due to heavy traffic & the drive thru Tucson which the limit range from 75, 65, & 55 so we had to slow down some, but I followed them all the way to Sierra Vista!! All that speeding (with some slowing for the traffic & driving thru Tucson) got me home only 30 mins early!! THAT'S IT!! I was like "Whoa I thought I would have gotten home in 2 hours but I guess I was wrong!!" So now I just go like 5 over & that's it!! Plus it's REALLY not worth the ticket!! So really what I'm trying to say is that speeding is only going to get you to that red light just a few minutes before I get there!!
I went into the new local library today on my way home from the bank!! Taylor's doing a report for school & it needs to be on someone who has a biography (which after looking thru that section....almost EVERYONE has one)!!! Well, before I made it back where the books are I stopped by the front desk to go ahead & get a library card. There was a woman approaching the counter as I was getting to the desk so I waited. Well while I was there I over heard the woman behind the counter say that there is a monthly fee (or yearly depending on how you want to pay) for the card if you live on the Pinal County side!! I was like "Did I hear her correctly?!?? We have to pay?" Well they were chit chatting a bit much & I was getting tired of waiting (especially if I was going to have to turn around & leave because I didn't have any money with me) so I was looking around the desk to see if there was a sign explaining what the woman behind the counter was talking about & how much it would be!!
I found this little printed out sign on the desk saying: "As of Sept. 1st 2008, there would be a fee for those who were 'Non-Residents' which would be about ('cause I can't remember the EXACT amount) $5.00 a month or $50.00 for the year!!" Now that may not seem like a lot but come on....who make ppl pay for a LIBRARY CARD?!?? I thought those were FREE!!! Plus if you're going to make ppl who live outside of the county line pay, then you should call it the MARICOPA COUNTY LIBRARY...not the QUEEN CREEK LIBRARY!!! We live in QC too & the really messed up part is that we live right on the border of the 2 counties!!!
I don't know what kind of messed up crap this city is trying to pull?!? It's almost like the city of Queen Creek doesn't recognize that WE live in Queen Creek!!! They're treating us "Pinal County side" like we're "dirty rats infesting their city"!!! We're technically not even in Queen Creek, there's actually no name for where we are right now just that it's "state land"!! So if the city of Queen Creek didn't want to expand, then why are we considered "Queen Creek"?!?? We should have had another name for us!! It's not like the land isn't big enough!! Instead of expanding us into Queen Creek & expanding the ppl 10 to 15 miles from us into Florence (which is another 10 to 15 miles from the actual Florence)...they should have made us some other town!! Then maybe we'd have our own stuff like libraries that we didn't have to pay for, or our own post office that we didn't have to share with all the "QC" ppl!!! The new Target store that was suppose to go in behind the house we just moved from wouldn't have had so many problems that came from the city of Queen Creek trying to rob them with city taxes & such which in turn stopped ANY stores from going in there!!
Well I could go on but I will stop!! The only good thing is that once the new hospital is built, they have to pay a fee to use it!! This is hospital is to help support Pinal county residents due to all the hospitals (in Maricopa) being at least 30 mins away!!!
